Art in the Woods- Kings Wood Kent 2017
For this woodland sculpture project I wrapped a dead tree in King's Wood in Kent with muslin cloth previously used to wrap an old incinerator in my garden. The incinerator had been left in my garden for a couple of months and was stained with rust and weathering. I entwined through the wrapping, items collected on a walk in the woods, both natural and those discarded by people. I felt I was bringing traces of my garden out into the woodland and infusing it with an essense of the woods. The sculpture was left in place in King's wood for the summer of 2017 absorbing a sense of the ancient woodland over time. As a footnote the remnants of the wrappings continue to gentle decay and absorb the sense of its surroundings back in my garden three years on.
